We're home!

I want to give our trip a proper post with lots of pictures, but first I have to have time to go through them all! I played tourist and took a lot of photos. So I'll leave you with this cute photo of Aiden in his car seat... he now hates the car 18+ hours in the car in 5 days will do that to anyone, but especially a boy that like to stretch when he wakes up. I gave him a break yesterday and I didn't take him anywhere. Hopefully a break will make him excited for the ride to Hebgen Lake on Saturday.

We're OFF!!

We are finally going on a summer vacation! Ryan is taking some time off work since he has only taken ONE day off since Aiden was born... and it was the day Aiden was born. We are headed up the the Flathead to visit Aiden's Godparents Mark and Joslyn, Ryan's Grandma June and our good friends the Martins! Look for a monster post when we get back on Thursday... oh yeah and don't try to rob us because Auntie Christy will be keeping down the fort with Bailey and Lula. :-)

And because I can't post without a picture check out our "little" nephew Ethan. (I can't believe this will be Aiden in less than a year!)

This was before he got really really dirty, who knew throwing dirt in your face could be so fun? But sadly the camera was packed up in the car already so I missed the good shot.

His new favorite past time of throwing rocks in the lake.

Weekend Wrap-up

What a fun weekend we had! Saturday started off slow... we futzed around, grabbed some breakfast, worked (the joys of working from home... you can always do work) and just kind of relaxed. That is until Ryan came upstairs and said "we can go to the Bobcat scrimmage... but we'd have to leave now" as soon as I said "OK" Ryan was already changed into his Bobcat shirt and hat and we were running out the door. Yes we have a baby, and we can still run out the door at a moments notice (sometimes). Here is baby Aiden enjoying his first bobcat experience... errr or Ryan's watch.Isn't the new turf pretty...
To round out our random Saturday we stopped at Joe's. The best place to get a fountain pop...where they have almost every variety of Coke and Pepsi products and 32 ounces is only 50¢. My sorority sisters and I (and everyone else we knew in college) lived on Joe's... they were a staple of our college diet. Everyone knew what you meant when you said you were going to get a Joe's and they'd usually throw 50¢ at you with their order too. Well Ryan went in to grab us a couple Joe's and came out with SHOCKING news. After 20 years a Joe's is now 75¢... bummer. I guess it is one more thing we can tell Aiden when he grows up... "back in our day..."

To top of the randomness that was Saturday Ryan stopped off for a "snack" at Little Ceasers for a Hot and Ready... (yes a whole pizza is a snack to my husband) and there was a dude playing his cello in the lobby...what?? I guess your $5 hot and ready now includes a little classy culture :-)

Sunday was a lot of fun and a lot less random. We drove up to visit my parents at Canyon Ferry Lake. Aiden has gotten a whole lot better in the car seat since I took out his newborn insert. Look at those sad tired eyes though... oh yeah and some blanket munching.
Dad and Ryan went fishing while I was on baby watch, and then we switched and Darcie and I went knee boarding and tubing. It was fun... but I'm so sore today. This post-baby body is out of shape!
Notice the algae... ewww

How was your weekend? :-)

I took a break from editing wedding photos to take Aiden's daily photo :-) Oh man I love this little guy!
(if you look closer... or click on the image to make it bigger... you can see me in his eye)

This morning on the changing table

I really need to get out the real video camera and capture Aiden before he gets too much bigger! Here is a video from the point and shoot camera. For some reason Aiden LOVES talking on his changing table, he is so happy there, as long as you don't try to change his clothes. Please excuse the funny noises that I have to make to get him to talk back, or the spit up on his shirt... we were at the changing table for a reason :-)

the bumbo

I thought I had to wait until Aiden was 3 months old to use the bumbo seat, but then I saw some friends pictures where they had their 4 week old in it. Aiden is really strong so I pulled it out and gave it a shot.

The first time Aiden kept leaning off to one side... not to sure about it.

Then the second time he wouldn't hold his head up, he was being really goofy laying his head back like he was looking for a head rest. (I didn't get a picture because he looked way to uncomfortable)

On the third time he was on old pro and now he enjoys dining with the family and being able to look around. Lula loves it that he is right on her level and she can kiss him all she wants.

Throwback Thursday...

I always forget about throwback Thursday... these days I tend to forget what day of the week it is.

When I was a kid (ok actually baby) I started "swimming lessons" when I was two weeks old. Swimming has always been a huge part of my life (sometimes it was my life) and that is one thing I hope to pass on to Aiden. We haven't been swimming yet, but we've been practicing in the bath tub. I hope to get him in the pool before summer is over!

This is me at three...

Guy Time

It drives me crazy when people say "Oh, Dad is babysitting..." It isn't babysitting when it is your own kid! (ok I'm stepping off my soap box)

The end of maternity leave meant the beginning of Daddy and Aiden time. I think next summer and in the summers to come these two are going to love it. They'll throw the football around, go fishing, and lots of other stuff just for guys, but right now they are just trying to get through the day without too many melt downs. Thank goodness for long drives around town and ESPN radio right Ryan? :-) Last Saturday was my first wedding back and it went great. Ryan and Aiden did great (which made it a whole lot better). As the last limo pulled away I snapped this photo of daddy and our sleeping son. Ryan was annoyed as he usually is when I try to take his picture, but someday he'll look back and thank me.

(Ryan and Aiden don't come to every wedding... we were guests as well as photographers for this one)

he finally has a son

he may be grand... but a son is a son.

My dad loves he three girls, but he has secretly wanted a son... well not that secretly. Anyone who calls their daughter Ralph was wishing for a son :-)

2 months!

I can't believe that little Aiden has been here for TWO months! He has been such a great baby, and I'm so thankful. This last month Aiden started sleeping through the night, not consistently but here and there, I think he has done it six times. He started smiling, cooing and squawking when he is happy. Today on our morning walk he cooed most of the time like he was enjoying the view or the breeze. Aiden is really strong and can hold his head up very well, he has even started to lift his head up when lay him down like he is trying to sit up.

This month Aiden has meet three of his five great grandmas. Insert cute picture here... bad mommy forgot to take.

At his two month doctors appointment Aiden was 13 pounds 5 oz and 24 inches tall...he is almost off the charts. The two month appointment also brought shots...it was rough but we both got through it. It is hard to hear your baby scream in pain to the point where he is purple. He did find his voice after getting shots though because his cries and screams, though few and far between, have gotten a lot louder.

Now that Aiden is officially 2 months old it means mommy is officially off maternity leave...but I'd argue that I never really went on maternity leave. I've done two sessions and a wedding this last week and now I'm waist deep in editing (or maybe nose deep...good thing I have time to blog). At my last session for a little two month old the mom made a comment about how many photoshoots little Aiden has probably had; photoshoots not so much... snapshots, yes. So the next morning I decided to stop being a bad photographer mommy and get some two month pictures of my handsome little man.{Aiden's hands are usually in fists...tight fists, with one thumb out and one thumb tucked under his index finger if you look closely at the hand on the right (his left) you can see it.}
